Has Iceland been on your Bucket List lately? It’s understandable!
Not only has Iceland been on my bucket list for years, so has Deplar Farm. After sending countless clients to Iceland, I was finally lucky enough to get my chance last fall! I got to check off two boxes for the same trip.
Deplar Farm is located in Northern Ireland, The Fljót Valley, a quick flight from Reykjavik. The best part of Deplar Farm is nearly all of the activities are included in your stay. Iceland’s weather can be fickle, but the beauty of Deplar is having the guides help with timing the activities perfectly while working around constant change in weather patterns.
Immediately upon my arrival, our guide Thor, instructed us that this was our window for whale watching. I thought to myself, I’m so jet-lagged, right now?! Well, Thor was right. Watching the whales swimming and diving around us was an experience I would have regretted missing. My jet lag was cured!
The lodge itself, is perfection in every way. There are thirteen bedrooms, making this property ideal for a large group buyout or simply reserving one room.
The dining room was one of my favorite rooms in the house— the birds on the wall, the long family-style table— perfection!
The best part about the weather not cooperating? More spa time! They have an incredible spa, large heated pool, a bar and an outside sauna. It was the perfect nighttime spot for stargazing and soaking in the Northern Lights. They also have floating pods which was my first time trying them. Another cure for jet lag!
From whale watching, Icelandic horseback riding, fishing, snowshoeing, hiking to buggy rides— you will not be bored! Let’s not forget the memorable stargazing and Northern Lights that Iceland is known for.
